Sotogrande

Sotogrande was established in 1962 by American entrepreneur Joseph McMicking. He bought five farms on both sides of the Guadiaro river where it flows into the Mediterranean, with the dream of turning it into one of Europe’s leading luxury residential and leisure destinations.

Sotogrande is the largest privately owned residential development on the Costa del Sol. It consists of around 2,500 inhabitants living in exclusive properties. Covering an area of 25 square kilometres stretching inland from the Mediterranean to the foothills of the Sierra Almenara, Sotogrande forms part of the municipality of San Roque in the province of Cadiz. Sotogrande is well known as an architectural showcase on the Costa del Sol, with styles varying from the traditional Andalusian to mid century modern, all the way through to stunning 21st century modern designs.

Discover Cadiz

The city of Cadiz is a beautiful city to visit; its historical monuments, long coastline, and white sandy beaches make the perfect travel destination. It was from here that Columbus originally set sail for America, and it’s also home to one of Spain’s most impressive cathedrals. Small, colourful fishing boats lash at the water’s edge of the city’s beaches, particularly that of La Caleta.

Go Golfing

For those visitors who enjoy a round of golf simply must visit the golf course of Valderrama, scene of the famous European win against the US team in the Ryder Cup of 1997. This is one of Europe’s top golf courses and it still regularly hosts the Volvo Masters one of the European Tour’s top events.

Visit the Beach

Playa de Torreguadiaro is located in Sotogrande, exclusive residential area belonging to the municipality of San Roque. It has an extension somewhat larger than 1.3 kilometres. Moreover, it is located in an area of ​​fishermen, close to luxury apartments and the marina of Sotogrande.It is a semi-urban beach of dark sands with small crushed stones and promenade, its occupancy level is high and the waves are moderate.
